A Selection of Daytrips To The Reef

One thing that you cannot miss out on experiencing whilst you’re in Cairns is visiting the Outer Great Barrier Reef. There are billions of amazingly colored fish and corals that your mind will spin and your trigger finger will get sore from taking so many pictures.

There are four different kinds of reef trips that you can pick out from, and it all depends on you as to which sort is going to suit you. What I’m trying to say is this – As I have done most of the reef daytrips from Cairns , I have highlighted the reef daytrips that I believed were among the best and then placed them in to 2 alternate categories.

These day cruises are great value for money and are basically for the young. However, if you are young in mind, you will completely enjoy such tours.

If you are wanting a boat trip that’s plenty of fun, in addition to terrific snorkelling and diving, then look no further!

Noah’s Ark was one of the earliest ‘budget’ reef trip businesses to operate tours out to the Great Barrier Reef from Cairns. You know, You won’t find any cheaper than ‘Noah’s’ and it’s remarkably good value for money.
Noah’s Ark visits Green Island, as well as Thetford Reef, and you can look forward to having roughly 2 hours snorkelling time in total. The crew are very couteous, and will help you out once it comes time to do some boom netting (for individuals unfamiliar with the expression ‘boom netting’, this involves a huge net being towed behind a slow moving vessel, and you hopping in and holding on to it, as well as holding on to your swimmers!).
It’s definitely not the fastest boat in the world, then again half the fun is the journey and you’ll appreciate Noahs Ark if what you want is a pleasant ‘cruisy’ day.
